Waitrose Supermarket, Victoria Road, Chelmsford - Air Quality Assessment

John Lewis Partnership

Air Quality Consultants Ltd. formed part of the John Lewis Partnership’s project team, which achieved planning approval from Chelmsford City Council in 2012 for the construction of a new 25,000 sq ft Waitrose supermarket.  The project involves the redevelopment of an existing mail sorting office into a supermarket, together with other commercial units, residential units and a new community centre.

The air quality assessment provided a review of existing air quality conditions in Chelmsford, and incorporated detailed dispersion modelling to determine air quality conditions in the future for existing local residents and the residents of the new residential units, taking account of the additional traffic that the development would generate.  Potential dust impacts during the construction phase of the development were also assessed.

Given the complex nature of the project the team are very impressed with the quality of the service that we have received.
