Air Quality Consultants was commissioned by Parc Calon Gwrdd Ltd to provide an air quality assessment for the development of land at Rover Way in Cardiff.
The scheme, comprising storage and distribution units and a biomass energy centre, was granted outline planning approval in 2018.
Air Quality Consultants produced a detailed air quality assessment in support of the planning application. The potential impacts of emissions from the biomass energy centre upon sensitive saltmarshes in the adjacent Severn Estuary Special Protection Area were a particular concern; based on the air quality study, the biomass energy centre (in particular the stack height) was designed to ensure that impacts on the Severn Estuary will be insignificant.
