Air Quality Consultants formed part of the project team that achieved outline planning approval, in 2011, from Lewisham Council, for the regeneration of Surrey Canal, a 30 ha site surrounding Millwall FC’s New Den Stadium.
The scheme will provide a regional sports centre for London and the South East, up to 2,500 new homes, hotel and conferencing facilities, and will create 2,000 new jobs.
Air Quality Consultants prepared the Air Quality Chapter for the Environmental Statement that was submitted in support of the planning application. The air quality assessment provided a review of existing air quality conditions, and carried out a detailed dispersion modelling exercise to determine air quality conditions in the future, taking account of the additional traffic that the scheme would generate.
The assessment also considered potential cumulative impacts associated with other committed developments, the potential impacts associated with nearby waste management facilities, and the potential impacts associated with emissions from the South East London Combined Heat and Power (SELCHP) facility
