Ryngan is an international public health expert specialising in Health Impact Assessment, including as part of project level Environmental Impact Assessment and strategic planning and policy development. Ryngan’s academic background is in the fields of public health, biological sciences and law.
Prior to joining Logika Group Ryngan led the Tetra Tech / RPS Health and Social Impact Team delivering many of the UK and Ireland’s largest infrastructure, renewable energy (onshore and offshore) and aviation projects. Recent projects include Heathrow and Gatwick expansions; Morgan, Mona, Morecambe and Dogger Bank South (East & West) Offshore Wind Farms; Dublin’s DART+ South-West rail project and Donegal’s Ten-T highway scheme. Wider work includes facilitating whole system climate change adaptation in ways that promote public health, as well as diverse projects across residential, datacentre, healthcare, spatial planning, waste, nuclear, industrial and defence. Ryngan works closely with the public and private sector clients to deliver assessments, training and quality reviews. Ryngan is the author of key national and international guidance, including on technical methods and competency standards. Key features of Ryngan’s work are an evidenced based approach, consensus building with stakeholders and a focus on responding to health inequalities for vulnerable groups.
Ryngan has authored World Health Organization publications; is an Honorary Research Fellow and member of the World Health Organization Collaborating Centre on Health in Impact Assessment at the University of Liverpool; is a registered public health practitioner with the Faculty of Public Health; chairs the IAIA Health Section; and sits on the ISEP (IEMA) Impact Assessment Steering Group.
