AQC’s permitting experts have been providing environmental permitting support to our Clients for more than 30 years. We are able to provide a complete environmental permitting service to industry covering, amongst others, environmental permit applications, variations, transfers and surrenders, BAT assessments, air quality, dust and odour assessments, greenhouse gas emissions and climate change risk assessments, noise assessments, assessment of effluent discharges to surface water and sewer, flood risk assessments, ecological impact assessments, site condition reports, monitoring of stack emissions and ambient air quality, emission inventory development, and development of management plans.
Our team can provide a comprehensive service to manage the complete permit application process, from the initial pre-application consultation with the Regulator, the development and submission of the application forms and supplementary technical information, handling post-submission queries and discharge of Pre-Operational or Improvement Conditions. However, our service offering is flexible, from simply providing initial guidance on the need for or type of permit required, completing specific areas of an application and supporting technical studies and plans, or technical review of applications. We can provide as much, or as little, support as required.
We routinely produce permit applications for new sites, variations to existing permits, transfer and partial transfer of permits, ongoing compliance assessment, through to closure and surrender. Our experience covers Standard Rules and Part B permits through to the most complex Part A(1) installation permits, with expertise in sectors including, but not limited to, refining, large and medium combustion plant (including data centres), organic and inorganic chemicals, ferrous and non-ferrous metals, food and drink, waste treatment, waste incineration, minerals, pulp and paper, glass, ceramics, animal byproducts and surface treatment (of metals and using organic solvents).
Our permitting experts also work closely with experts in our Environmental Policy and Economics Practice who are at the forefront of UK and European industrial pollution control policy having led multiple frameworks and studies that contributed to the initial development of the Industrial Emissions Directive, its implementation and subsequent evaluation. Other examples include technical and economic evaluation of new emission standards for industrial facilities, and provision of support to industry on the interpretation and implementation of new BREFs and the associated BAT Conclusions, including drafting responses to Regulation 61 notices.
We have successfully delivered permitting services for clients in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, working with the Environment Agency, Natural Resources Wales, the Scottish Environment Protection Agency, the Northern Ireland Environment Agency and local authorities. Through our associates, our experience also includes support provided to Regulators in the duly making and determination of complex bespoke permit applications, providing unparalleled knowledge of a Regulator’s expectations for a robust, high quality application. However, do not just take our word for it:
“On behalf of Etex I would like to thank you for the superb support you have provided to us throughout this project. I’m sure I speak on behalf of the team in saying you went above and beyond in the professional way you project managed this mission from start to finish and the technical competence you brought to it. I only wish we had appointed AQC as a partner earlier in our EPR permitting journey!”
