Three peaks challenge 2019

On Saturday 21st September a team of 17 consultants from Air Quality Consultants Ltd and Noise Consultants Ltd took on the National Three Peaks Challenge.

On Saturday 21st September a team of 17 consultants from Air Quality Consultants Ltd and Noise Consultants Ltd took on the National Three Peaks Challenge. This saw the team climb the highest mountains in Scotland (Ben Nevis), England (Scafell Pike) and Wales (Snowdon), all within 24-hours.

Following a long journey to Fort William from Bristol, London and Warrington, the challenge began at 7:15 am at the foot of Ben Nevis. A beautiful day greeted the group for the climb, with cloudless skies and amazing views. Everyone reached the summit of Ben Nevis and returned to the visitors’ centre before hopping onto the team bus for the 7-hour drive to the Lake District.

Scafell Pike saw the added challenge of a night climb. With darkness well set in by the time the team reached Wasdale Head at the foot of the mountain, it was time to fire-up the head torches to light the way up the mountain. With strong winds and the threat of rain forecast in the small hours, the team pressed on up the mountain and reached the summit under starry skies and hiked back down to Wasdale Head before a late-night drive from Cumbria to north Wales for the final ascent on Snowdon.

Having been treated to fabulous weather in Scotland and a clear night in the Lakes, the Welsh weather put on a show with heavy rain and poor visibility on the mountain. The rules of the challenge prohibited the use of the Snowdon Mountain Railway so the team put on all their waterproof gear and hiked up to the summit using the famous Pyg Track before returning to Llanberis for a well-deserved change of clothes and celebratory glass of champagne.

In completing the challenge the team raised over £3,000 for Mind, the mental health charity, and would like to thank friends, family, colleagues and clients for all their support.
